instruction course?
Students need to have completed the classroom portion of driver's education and need to have the certificate (Green Card) from their school.

Students can enroll in behind-the-wheel if their 45 hour driver's log is not complete
but they will not be issued a license until they have completed the log.

Behind-the-wheel consists of seven lessons. Each lesson is an hour and
forty minutes long. Half the lesson will be spent driving and half the
lesson will be observing another student driver.
Do you give my child his/her road skills test?
Yes, all teenagers 18 years old and younger are required to take the behind-the-wheel course which includes the road skills test on the last day of the lessons.
If my child passes do you automatically issue him/her a license?
Yes, if your child has met all the requirements below then we will issue a Provisional
Drivers License (PDL -see next question).
Requirements for teenager:
* Pass Road Skills Test
* Hold Learner's Permit for a minimum of nine months
* Complete the forty-five hour driver's log (if under age 18)

What is provisional drivers license (PDL)
A provisional driver's license is a valid Virginia license as long as it is carried with a
learner's permit. This is a temporary license for your child to use until he/she receives
their scheduled appointment to attend a juvenile licensing ceremony in the county in
which the student resides.
